With Rain Down on Me, I wanted to capture the emotional release of a sudden downpour, where the weather mirrors a deep internal clearing.
The composition is built across soft fields of bubblegum pink, lavender, and rich blue, structured by heavy, textured layers of paint. Cutting downward through the canvas are sharp, vertical streaks and drips of blue resembling streams of water rushing down a pane or falling directly through the atmosphere.
Working in oil on canvas, the woven texture of the fabric grips the thick impasto, giving the surface a tangible, heavy relief. Rain Down on Me is about that cathartic moment of letting go and allowing the storm to wash everything clean.
