With Alien Picnic, I wanted to imagine an otherworldly gathering set against an unfamiliar landscape, blending strange, otherworldly structures with the casual spontaneity of a shared outdoor meal.
The composition is built from an intense palette of fiery reds, earthy browns, and deep greens, juxtaposed against a structured, geometric formation of pale lavender and white on the right. Thick impasto builds a dense, textured topography across the canvas surface, giving the contrasting fields a heavy, tangible weight.
Working in oil on canvas, the woven fabric grips the heavy paint applications, emphasizing the raw, dynamic energy of the piece. Alien Picnic is about exploring unfamiliar realms, unexpected encounters, and the playful collision of foreign worlds.
